- Saturday afternoon’s match will be the Spirit’s first in 14 days. After drawing the Dash in Houston on Saturday, August 27, the Spirit entered another international window in which it sent four players to USWNT camp and another to Mexican national team camp.
- The last time the Spirit took on Wave FC was also the first time these two sides ever faced off. At Torero Stadium in San Diego back in July, Washington dropped a 2-1 decision to the expansion club. Jordan Baggett headed home the Spirit’s lone score in second-half stoppage time of the contest off an assist from Tara McKeown.
- Washington’s two goals in Houston last time out were both scored by Ashley Hatch in a span of two minutes. Hatch connected in the 53rd and 55th minutes to give the Spirit a 2-1 lead before the Dash netted an equalizer in stoppage time.
- Washington currently has ten draws in its 17 regular season matches. With one more tie this year, the Spirit will equal 2021 NJ/NY Gotham FC’s league-record 11 single-season draws.
- Saturday’s match will be the first at the helm for interim head coach Albertin Montoya. Montoya’s previous experience in professional women’s soccer spans across three top-tier leagues including the head coaching position with Women’s Professional Soccer’s FC Gold Pride, where he led current Spirit players Kelley O’Hara and Nicole Barnhart to a league championship.

- Reigning Golden Boot Ashley Hatch currently has the sixth-most goals scored across the NWSL in the 2022 regular season with seven.

- Wave FC forward/midfielder Jaedyn Shaw trained with the Spirit during the first half of the 2022 season before being signed by San Diego via the discovery process.
