Washington, D.C. (11/09/21) –  U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski has named Spirit defender Emily Sonnett, midfielders Ashley Sanchez and Andi Sullivan, and forward Ashley Hatch to the roster for two matches vs. Australia.

The first match will take place at Stadium Australia in Sydney on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. local time (Friday, Nov. 26 at 11 p.m. ET on FS2) and the second will be at the McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on Tuesday, November 30 at 8:05 p.m. local time (4:05 a.m. ET on ESPN).

Sonnett enters camp with the most caps among the Spirit players brought on the trip with 61. Most recently, Sonnett played in three of the four post-Olympic matches, starting two of those. This season in the NWSL, Sonnett has been a key part of the lockdown defense for the Spirit.

Sullivan is the second most senior member of this group and has played in 20 matches for the USWNT. During the four post-Olympic matches, Sullivan started three of those matches and recorded her first career national team goals. With the Spirit this year, Sullivan has been the key to the midfield, unlocking plays forward with her pinpoint passes and locking things down defensively as the number 6 midfielder.

Sanchez was most recently called up to the USWNT in October of 2020 for a camp in Colorado. Heading into this camp, Sanchez will look to make her national team debut. For the Spirit in 2021, Sanchez has continued to build on her 2020 campaign. Sanchez has been a key part of the formidable attack for the Spirit, scoring four goals.

Hatch was most recently called up to the USWNT in November of 2020 for the USWNT’s training camp in the Netherlands. Hatch has two caps to her name with the senior squad, her debut coming back in 2016. In the NWSL this year, Hatch has lit up the score sheet, taking home Golden Boot honors with 10 goals. Most recently, Hatch scored the game-winning goal in the Spirit’s quarterfinal win against the North Carolina Courage.
