CHICAGO (July 21, 2021) – The National Women’s Soccer League’s Independent Review Panel has made the following decision after review of a recent incident during Washington’s match against NJ/NY Gotham FC last Sunday.
Washington appealed a red card issued to defender Sam Staab in the seventh minute of the Sunday, July 18th, 2021 match against Gotham FC. The club’s appeal was successful after review by the league’s Independent Review Panel determined that Staab had not denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. As a result, all disciplinary actions have been rescinded.
