The Washington Spirit will play their seventh league fixture of the 2021 regular season against Kansas City on Saturday, June 26, at 8:30 pm ET at Legends Field. The game will air on Twitch in the U.S. and internationally.

The 2019 Goalkeeper of the Year continues to be a rock in net for Washington. Having played every minute of the Spirit’s first six matches, the Wake Forest product is off to another strong start. She trails only Alyssa Naeher for minutes and games played and has the fifth-most saves in the NWSL with 17.

After failing to earn a victory at the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup presented by Secret, things haven’t gotten much better for the recently relocated side. Kansas City is 0–5–2 and has a minus-seven goal differential to start the regular season, which is tied for the worst average in the league. With six goals in six outings, Washington has the offensive might to earn a result at the weekend.
3- Goals Scored by Spirit Striker Ashley Hatch
Hatch always has had an eye for goal, and the former BYU Cougar is off to a blistering start. The 26-year-old’s three markers through six contests are second to Alex Morgan’s four. In two previous seasons, Hatch has found the back of the net seven times, her career-best. In 2017, it took her 22 games to reach seven, and it took 24 fixtures in 2019. In a quarter of the games played this season, Hatch is nearly halfway to equalling her season-best tally.
3- Games the Spirit Have Dropped Points After Having a Lead
When the Spirit conceded in the 92’ of Saturday’s 1–1 draw with Chicago, it became the third time this season Washington has dropped points from a winning position. An 84’ goal by Morgan in the opening match of the campaign led to a 1–1 tie. The Spirit also lost the lead against Orlando on June 6. Scoring first is a vital part of accumulating points, but Washington will need to avoid dropping points as the season continues.
