Leesburg, VA., (06/23/21) – Mexico Women’s National Team Head Coach Monica Vergara has named Spirit defender Karina Rodriguez to the team’s upcoming matches against the United States. 

The team will play two games against the USWNT with both matches being played in Hartford, CT. The first match will take place on July 1 (7 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1) and the second on July 5 (5 p.m. ET on ESPN). 

In February of 2021, Rodriguez was called up to the senior Mexican National Team for a pair of matches against Costa Rica, where she earned her first cap on February 23. Rodriguez recently received another call-up from the senior team for a training camp in Japan last month. The former Bruin was also a previous member of the U.S. U-20s Women’s National Team and competed in the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
