Leesburg, VA., (04/05/21) – Venezuela Women’s National Team Head Coach Pamela Conti has named Spirit forward Mariana Speckmaier to the roster for the Basque Country International Women’s Cup. Other teams in the tournament include Basque Country, Argentina, and Nigeria. 

Venezuela will play Basque Country on Thursday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. ET. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Argentina vs. Nigeria game on Sunday, April 11. The third-place game will be held on Saturday, April 10. 

Speckmaier was drafted by the Spirit with the 39th pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft. In four seasons at Clemson, Speckmaier scored 25 goals and added 29 assists. This is Speckmaier’s first call-up to the senior national team after representing Venezuela at the U20 World Cup.
