Washington Spirit Fall to Sky Blue FC in Preseason Game Presented by WAGS Tournament Featured Image

Washington, D.C. (03/28/21) – The Washington Spirit fell to Sky Blue FC 2-1 today in a 90-minute match at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. 

Sky Blue started off the scoring in the 6th minute with a goal from forward Paige Monaghan. The Spirit would get one back in the 37th minute from forward Ashley Sanchez to go into halftime tied at 1. 

In the second half, Sky Blue scored in the 60th minute to make it 2-1. The Spirit would have a few chances throughout the rest of the half but never found the back of the net. Midfielder Julia Roddar made her debut for the Spirit, coming on in the second half as a substitute. 

The Spirit will return to action for the Challenge Cup on Sunday, April 10 when they take on the North Carolina Courage in Cary, NC.
