Leesburg, Va., (1/13/21) – The Washington Spirit have selected Trinity Rodman with the second overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft.

Rodman, a forward for the Washington State Cougars, did not appear in any games for the Cougars after joining them as a freshman in the fall of 2020. Due to Covid-19, Washington State and the Pac-12 did not play a fall season in 2020. Instead, they are expected to play a shortened spring season.

Because of a waiver obtained by the NWSL from the NCAA, players picked in the 2021 NWSL Draft will have until Friday, January 22, 2021 to decide whether to report immediately to their NWSL club or at the conclusion of the spring collegiate season.

Rodman was selected with the second overall pick in the draft and the Spirit have three remaining picks – the 19th, 29th, and 39th picks.
