A Message From Owner Steve Baldwin

June 27, 2020

Today is a big day for the National Women’s Soccer League.  We are the first professional sports league to return to play with the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup presented by Procter and Gamble / Secret.

Today is also the debut of our new broadcast relationships with CBS and Amazon Twitch.  You will also see broadcast commercial spots with Progressive Insurance, Jersey Mike’s, Google and other venue activations with CVS Health and Verizon.  You will also see our local partners – CVS Health, Progressive Insurance, Women and Girls in Soccer (WAGS), and Sandy Spring Bank make their debut on our 2020 kit.

When I spoke to you after our August 24, 2019 match at Audi Field, I stated that our club would not rest until we changed the game for the amazing women of the NWSL.  Together with Lisa Baird and Lindsay Barenz, we have been able to bring these new partners to the NWSL and the Spirit.

I want to thank all of these organizations for joining the NWSL and the Washington Spirit.  I want to thank NWSL partners Nike and Budweiser for their continued partnerships with the NWSL.  Special thanks go to Billy Stone of CBS, Jay Carney of Amazon, Dan Cohen of Octagon, Tom Daschle, and Steve Disson for their help in making these relationships happen.

I also want to thank our other local partners Mid-Atlantic Ford Dealers, Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Koons of Silver Spring, Paisano’s Pizza, Enlightenment Capital, Super FD, Pepco, Inride, Explosive Performance, ProChain Solutions, Finch Services, Carahsoft, C2S Consulting Group, Maryland SoccerPlex, Lyre’s, AthletiCBD, SpaceMaker Mobile Storage, OMX, SVT Advantage, Denizens, INOVA Sports Medicine, GrayMeta, and OneLife Fitness.

Here is my request to our fans. Support the partners of the NWSL and the Washington Spirit.  Let them know you value their support of the players you love by purchasing their goods and services.  Thank you Spirit Nation for your support!!!!  Enjoy the North Carolina – Portland game today, our game tonight against Chicago, and every game of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup.
