Boyds, Md., (10/15/19) – Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe has been nominated for NWSL Save of the Week Award for her save in the 39th minute of the Spirit’s season finale in Portland.

Portland Thorns defender Meghan Klingenberg crossed a ball directly onto the penalty spot, sending Bledsoe up to clear the ball away from two Thorn players. After the initial clearance, the ball still rolled loose in the box.

Thorns midfielder Lindsey Horan gathered the rebound and took a shot off her first touch, but Bledsoe heroicly jumped in front of the shot and blocked the ball with her legs, preventing the goal.

Bledsoe finished the game with five saves as she earned her 9th clean sheet of the season. The Spirit goalkeeper has won the Save of the Week award three times in 2019, and has been nominated six times in total.

Spirit fans can vote for Bledsoe’s save via the NWSL’s Twitter. Voting closes 3:30 p.m. ET Wednesday.
