Boyds, Md. (10/8/19) – Washington Spirit forward Tiffany McCarty has won the NWSL Goal of the Week honor for her impressive chip-shot goal in the Spirit’s 3-0 over the Pride.

McCarty won the award after a fan vote elected her effort as the best strike from around the NWSL for matchweek 20. The goal of the week selection is McCarty’s first NWSL award.

Spirit midfielder Bayley Feist laid a pass off to McCarty, who then turned and attempted a cheeky chip-shot that sailed over the Orlando goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

The 85th minute goal came in McCarty’s season debut for the Spirit, after she subbed into the game in the 52nd minute. McCarty, who was the Spirit organization’s first-ever draft pick, also scored the Spirit’s first-ever NWSL goal in 2013.
