WASHINGTON, DC – AUGUST 25: Camila #9 of the Orlando Pride tries to catch Crystal Thomas #31 of the Washington Spirit during a game between Orlando Pride and Washington Spirit at Audi Field on August 25, 2019 in Washington, DC.

Boyds, Md., (10/8/19) Crystal Thomas has been voted NWSL Player of the Week for Week 20 of the 2019 season by the NWSL Media Association. Thomas played all 90 minutes in the match against Orlando Pride.

Thomas scored the second goal of the match, putting the Spirit up 2-0 in the 62nd minute.

Orlando midfielder Joanna Boyles tried to pass the ball back but ended up giving the ball away to Washington forward Tiffany McCarty. As McCarty turned to face the goal, defender Morgan Reid was able to stretch her leg to get the ball away from McCarty, but Thomas was able to pick up the ball as she was running into the right side of the box.

Thomas dribbled towards goal, megging Orlando goalkeeper Lainey Burdett for the goal. Thomas had a total of three shots during the match, with two being on target.

The Washington Spirit now has a two-game win streak, with one match left in the regular season. Their final match will be on Saturday, October 12, against Portland Thorns FC.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.
