Boyds, Md., (6/18/19) –Spirit midfielder/defender Amy Harrison is representing Australia in the 2019 FIFA World Cup. The Spirit sat down with the Harrison earlier this year to talk about what playing in the World Cup would mean, what representing her country on the biggest stage feels like, and more.

Harrison has had to adjust to life in a new country while preparing for both the World Cup and the regular season here in Washington. She had this to say about her adjustment period “I think it’s really important for me to adjust quickly to life here and get myself playing as good as I can on the pitch. Give myself the most opportunities to get to the World Cup.” Despite the challenges of living in a new country and playing for a new team, it is not lost on Harrison what she is accomplishing by playing in the World Cup. Harrison said this about playing on the world’s stage “I think playing in a World Cup is every footballer’s dreams, something I’ve [dreamed] of since I was a little girl.”

Harrison also isn’t shy about praising Spirit Head Coach Richie Burke “Richie has been a breath of fresh air from back home. He’s been really important in this process…” Harrison also touches on what it means to represent Australia, words of wisdom from her past, and she hopes to accomplish in France.
