Boyds, Md. (5/20/19) – Washington Spirit Midfielder Jordan DiBiasi has earned her first nomination for NWSL goal of the week via her goal against Portland Thorns FC last Saturday.

After the Spirit earned a corner in the 71st minute, DiBiasi stood over the ball from the left side. Dibiasi hit an in-swinging ball towards the goal while Spirit forward Cheyna Matthews screened Portland keeper Britt Eckerstrom. The ball sailed towards the net before curving just under the bar and just over Eckerstrom for the Spirit’s third goal of the night.

After the game, Dibiasi said that it was her first Olimpico style goal saying: “I actually didn’t regularly take corners at school so I’m kinda new to it and then in practice. [Richie Burke] always tells me to aim right under the crossbar so if you miss it goes straight in, and it happened tonight! So I’m pretty happy about it.”
