The Jamaican Women’s National Team found their way into the win column in its first match of the calendar year and first match since qualifying for the 2019 Women’s World Cup, defeating Chile 1-0 in an international friendly on Thursday.

Washington Spirit forward Cheyna Matthews earned her first senior cap with the Reggae Girlz after receiving her first call-up to the national team’s training camp last month, tallying 66 minutes.

Jamaica will face off one more time against Chile March 3 at 7 p.m. in Montego Bay, Jamaica, as they continue to prepare for their first World Cup appearance. The upcoming matchup will be the team’s final match before the 2019 Women’s World Cup, where Brazil, Italy, and Australia await them in Group C.
