Boyds, Md. (Feb. 28, 2019) – The Washington Spirit is excited to announce a number of fan engagement improvements and renovations that will be coming to the Maryland SoccerPlex this season. With the latest changes, the club aims to improve fan experience and atmosphere, setting a new standard for Spirit fans to enjoy the world’s highest level of women’s professional soccer.
The club will be opening the brand new Washington Spirit Fan Zone, a unique addition to the SoccerPlex that will be available to all ticket-holding fans. The Fan Zone will open an hour prior to the official gate time and will offer fun, family-friendly games such as cornhole and giant Spirit Jenga.
Food and drink will be available in the Fan Zone courtesy of gameday-staple Famous Dave’s, and the Fan Zone will also feature a merchandise store via the Spirit’s merchandise partner, Rockville Soccer. As the season progresses, the Spirit and Rockville Soccer will be expanding options, adding new items throughout the year to be available online and on game days.
In addition, the Spirit and Famous Daves will be significantly improving concessions at the SoccerPlex. Famous Dave’s will be expanding their menu offerings, and they will provide special in-seat offers such as hot dogs and beverages for the first time ever.
Spirit CEO Larry Best shared his excitement on the new renovations coming to the SoccerPlex: “As we all look forward to the start of the historic 7th NWSL season, we’re very excited to launch a game day platform that will completely enhance our fans overall game day experience with fun, festive, and exciting activities grouped with concession upgrades and a merchandise offering that gives our loyal fans the atmosphere and support they deserve.”
