Pugh opened the scoring in Tuesday’s 4-0 rout in the 34th minute, putting the USA ahead with a tap-in following a saved penalty kick. Pugh earned the penalty kick when she was taken down by Chile’s Camila Saez on a dangerous run into the box. However, Alex Morgan’s PK attempt was saved by Chilean goalkeeper Christiane Endler. USA midfielder Tobin Heath secured the rebound and sent the ball into the center of the six-yard box, where Pugh displayed impressive reflexes, using her knee to knock the ball into the net.

Pugh’s 12th international goal was her sixth of 2018 and first since April 8, 2018. She trails only Morgan’s 10 goals for most on the team this year. The 20-year-old also notched her 13th career assist in the first leg on Friday night against Chile. She earned her 36th and 37th career caps with the senior national team during the late-summer friendlies.

Lavelle earned her 12th and 13th international caps over the course of the two-game set, starting both matches and playing a key role for the USA’s fast-paced attack. She played the first half in Friday’s opener, and played the first 60 minutes on Tuesday night.
