Boyds, MD – Saturday August 12, 2017: Alyssa Kleiner during a regular season National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match between the Washington Spirit and The Boston Breakers at Maureen Hendricks Field, Maryland SoccerPlex.

Boyds, MD (February 1, 2018) – The Washington Spirit has waived defender Alyssa Kleiner.

Kleiner appeared in 35 regular season games over the past two seasons for Washington, totalling 2,112 minutes of playing time. In addition to her contributions on the back line, Kleiner netted one goal and notched one assist as a member of the Spirit.

The Santa Clara University alum also played 98 minutes of regulation and extra time on the Spirit back line in the 2016 NWSL Championship match against the Western New York Flash.

Kleiner, 24, first joined the Spirit during the 2015 offseason, after playing her rookie season with Portland Thorns FC.
