4 – Current unbeaten streak at home against Boston
Washington has earned a win and three draws in its past four games against the Breakers played at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The sides played toa 2-2 draw on Aug. 12 in their last meeting.
6 – Spirit players who have scored their first NWSL goal this season
Along with an all-around effort that garnered her NWSL Player of the Week honors, Spirit defender Whitney Church became the sixth Spirit player this season to score her first NWSL goal when she found the back of the net on Sept. 8 against Sky Blue FC. With her equalizing header in the second half comeback, Church joined Line Sigvardsen Jensen, Mallory Pugh, Estelle Johnson, Arielle Ship and Meggie Dougherty Howard on the list of first-time scorers.
22 – Games played this season for Havana Solaun
Solaun is the only player to have appeared in all 22 games so far in 2017, her first season with the Spirit. The former University of Florida standout also leads the team with five goals and is tied with Francisca Ordega for the lead in assists with three.
55 – Total passes last game for Meggie Dougherty Howard
In her rookie season out of the University of Florida, Dougherty Howard leads the team in total passes attempted with 766. In the Spirit’s most recent game on Sept. 8 against Sky Blue FC, she recorded a team-high 55 passes in the 2-1 road win.
7 – Saves last game for DiDi Haracic, a new career high
Haracic saved seven of eight opposing shots on target in Washington’s win over Sky Blue FC, setting a new carer high. She and the Spirit back line held serve as the only NWSL team to not allow a goal this season to the league’s leading scorer, Australian international Sam Kerr.
