BOYDS, MD (Jan. 27, 2017) – The Washington Spirit has signed defender Caprice Dydasco to a new contract for the 2017 NWSL season. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In 2016, Dydasco started in 12 regular season and both post season matches for the Spirit. She recorded two assists, one on July 31 against Sky Blue FC and one on August 26 against Orlando Pride, both to forward Cheyna Williams.

“We look forward to Caprice returning to the Spirit,” said Spirit general manager and head coach Jim Gabarra. “Her continued development as a pro player and person is something we believe has incredible potential.”

The Spirit selected the UCLA alum with the no. 19 overall pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft. She played in six matches for the Spirit in 2015.

Dydasco has seen time with the United States Under-23 National team. In March 2015, she started all three of the matches of the U23 team at a tournament in La Manga, Spain. The defender was again called in to the United States U23 camp in January 2016 and played in the match against Ireland. She spent the 2015-2016 off season playing for Newcastle Jets in the Westfield W-League in Australia.

During the NWSL Championship, Dydasco suffered a torn left ACL. After undergoing surgery, she has been rehabbing in her native Hawaii.
