BOYDS, MD. (Mar. 9, 2015) – The Washington Spirit opens its NWSL 2015 training camp on Monday. The team will complete a full week of training before an intrasquad scrimmage scheduled for 3:30 PM on Saturday at Maureen Hendricks Field.

The 29 player roster includes 10 players from the 2014 NWSL season in addition to 11 off season acquisitions.

The Spirit signed a number of new players in the off season. Most recently, the Spirit signed all three picks from the 2015 NWSL College Draft–Whitney Church, Caprice Dydasco, and Megan Oyster.

Also added to the roster for the 2015 season are former Western New York Flash defenders Estelle Johnson and Katherine Reynolds and goalkeeper Kelsey Wys. Another acquisition set to bolster the back line is right back Arianna Romero from the Houston Dash.

In midfield, the Spirit acquired former Boston Breaker Joanna Lohman, Angela Salem from the Western New York Flash, as well as Amanda DaCosta from Liverpool Ladies.

Up top, the Spirit signed Argentine international forward Estefania Banini. Both Caroline Miller and Tiffany Weimer are rejoining the club after missing the 2014 season due to injury.

Ali Krieger, Crystal Dunn and Ashlyn Harris haven’t arrived as they due to their duties with the U.S. Women’s National Team at the Algarve Cup. Similarly, Arianna Romero and Veronica Perez have not arrived yet because of their duties with the Mexican National Team at the Cyprus Cup. Diana Matheson is also absent as she is still rehabbing following knee surgery late last year. Estefania Banini will join the team midweek after she arrives in the United States.

The Washington Spirit will begin its 2015 season on the road facing the Houston Dash onFriday, April 10 at BBVA Compass Stadium. The Spirit will make its home debut against FC Kansas City at Maureen Hendricks Field the following weekend on Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m.
