USWNT (CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifying)
The US women opened their group play in the CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifying against Trinidad and Tobago with a close win of 1-0. Special congratulations to Ali Krieger who achieved her 50th career USWNT cap with her start in the game! She is the 48th player to achieve this milestone. Krieger played the entire match, and Ashlyn Harris was an available sub. Abby Wambach scored the USA’s goal to help move the US to 23-1-0 all time in World Cup Qualifying. Game recap.
The USWNT came out and took control of the game against Guatemala on Friday. Ali Krieger crossed the ball into the box in the 7th minute to a waiting Sydney Leroux who tapped it to Tobin Heath who scored the USWNT’s first goal of the match. The US went on to win 5-0, moving the team to a 2-0-0 record in group play. Ashlyn Harris was a sub for the game. Game recap.
Mex WNT (CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifying)
Veronica Perez played in the Mex WNT’s opening match against Costa Rica. Costa Rica went up a goal early and was able to hold off the Mexicans in a hard fought match. Perez had a couple of chances in the second half. Game Recap.
The Mexican women overpowered Martinique with a 10-0 win in their second World Cup Qualifying match. This win moved the Mex WNT to a 1-0-1 record in World Cup Qualifying this year. Game recap.
Can WNT
Diana Matheson was named to the Can WNT roster for the upcoming friendlies against Japan on October 25th and 28th in Edmonton and Vancouver. As host nation, Canada is already qualified to the Women’s World Cup next year. Read more.

Newcastle turns on turbojets in second half
The Newcastle Jets, including Spirit player Tori Huster, had an impressive second half in a 5-1 win over the Western Sydney Wanderers. The Jets scored four of the five goals in the second half. The win puts the Jets in 4th place in the W-League standings. Game Recap.
Melbourne Draws Brisbane
The Melbourne Victory ended its match with a 1-1 draw against the Brisbane Roar. Lisa De Vanna and Christine Nairn both played for the entire match. De Vanna was active around the goal, especially in the second half, but the Roar’s defense proved to be tough. Game Recap.
Close game for Canberra
Canberra United had a close match against Adelaide United. Canberra fell behind twice and managed to equalize. The second equalizer came off of a Lori Lindsey corner kick. Adelaide came back to score its third goal within seconds of Canberra equalizing and held on for the 3-2 win. Spirit’s Chantel Jones was on the bench for Canberra. Game recap.

Apollon’s run is over
The Apollon Limassol FC Ladies’ push in the women’s UEFA Champions League came to an end with its 3-1 extra time loss to Brøndby in the second leg of the Round of 32. Yael Averbuch played the entire game. Match Overview.
