With the postseason rapidly approaching, the Washington Spirit travel to Seattle to take on the first place Seattle Reign FC. The Spirit, with 34 points and a 10-8-4 record, have a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a victory on Saturday. They also clinch if they tie and Chicago Red Stars lose or draw in their match with FC Kansas City. The Reign represents the top seed in the NWSL. They have dominated all season, accumulating 53 points en route to a 16-1-5 record.

With just two games remaining in their season, the Spirit are tantalizingly close to qualifying for the playoffs. To help clinch, the Spirit will be get Jodie Taylor back in the lineup after missing the last two matches for English National Team duty. Taylor leads the Spirit with 11 goals.

However, the Spirit will be without starting goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris. Harris has been ruled out for Saturday’s match due to concussion symptoms and Chantel Jones will be tasked as her replacement. Seattle has shown to be a potent offense, scoring 49 goals on the season. Jones will certainly need to be ready to go when the whistle blows.

As the long and arduous regular season comes to a close, the Washington Spirit hold the key to their playoff fortunes. Win and they’re in, simple enough. With two games remaining on the season, the Spirit have the chance to punch their ticket to the postseason Saturday evening when they face off against the league leading Seattle Reign at the Moda Pitch Memorial Stadium at 10 pm ET.
