It is officially playoff contention time and your Washington Spirit needs you more than ever!
The Spirit are currently tied for fourth in the league with an 8-8-3 record. In order to make the playoffs, we must finish the regular season in the top four. Five regular season games remain and four are at home, that’s where you, the Spirit Family, come in. The team needs you behind them, in the stands, cheering and willing them on as the 12th man!
First up in this final stretch is Alex Morgan and the Portland Thorns FC who are proving to be lethal in the final third. The last time the two teams met, Portland defeated the Spirit 6-1 and Portland’s last game, they nabbed another 6 goals against the Boston Breakers.
We need you to create a sea of red and blue in the stands at our remaining home games!
July 23, 7pm Portland Thorns FC 8-6-5 (currently in 3rd place)
July 30, 7pm FC Kansas City 10-5-4 (currently in 2nd place)
Aug 2, 6:30pm Chicago Red Stars 7-6-6 (currently in 5th place)
Aug 16, 6:30pm Sky Blue FC 4-7-7 (defeated Spirit 7/20)
