Boyds, Md. (April 25, 2014) – On Saturday, April 26th, the Washington Spirit will finish a two-game road trip against the Chicago Red Stars after suffering a 3-1 loss to Seattle Reign FC.

The Spirit have played a total of three matches in ten days (1-2-0), tallying a 3-1 win at home over FC Kansas City and two 3-1 losses, one to Western New York Flash at home and one to SRFC on the road. The Red Stars have played one match, earning a 1-0 win over WNY.

Chicago’s win was sealed by a single goal off a set piece by rookie midfielder Julie Johnston, with the assist coming from midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo. During that match the Red Stars had a total of three shots on goal.

The Washington Spirit have shown they are capable of possessing the ball while combining in the midfield and can create opportunities in the attack. The Spirit have scored a total of five goals in three games and given up seven. With their second match in four days, they will look to focus on finishing their chances in the final third as well as getting the team’s first shutout of the early season.

The match is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. EDT and will be available in live stream at www.youtube.com/NWSL.

The Spirit will then look to avenge their loss against Seattle in their next home match on Saturday, May 3rd at 6:30pm at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
