Dear Women’s Soccer Fan,

In one week, professional women’s soccer will return to America with our Washington Spirit team based right here in Washington, DC one of the eight teams kicking off our first season shortly. Our first regular season game is this Sunday, April 14th at the Boston Breakers. And six days later it all starts right here in Washington with our first home game Saturday, April 20th, against Abby Wambach and the Western NY Flash. All home games will be held in the cozy confines of the stadium at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, MD.

I and my fellow seven team owners are committed to building sustainable teams as part of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) to ensure the women have a league with real longevity. In an unprecedented turn of events that can only bode well for all of us, the soccer federations of the U.S., Canada and Mexico have agreed to support our league by allocating national team players on our teams at their expense. We are operating with modest budgets as any smart startup business would with a focus on the long term. Further, as a father of a daughter who played youth soccer, I understand the value of these players as role models.  I personally want professional soccer to succeed in order to provide those role models for girls and boys playing the game today and in the future.

Our goal is to showcase the best North American women’s soccer players in a positive environment at family-friendly prices. Our home games will not only feature the Spirit’s allocated U.S. National Team players Ali Krieger, Lori Lindsey and Ashlyn Harris; but also opponents like Heather O’Reilly and Sydney Leroux (Boston Breakers), Alex Morgan and Rachel Buehler (Portland Thorns), and Kelley O’Hara and Christie Rampone (Sky Blue FC) to name a few.

However, we cannot succeed without your support.  If we can consistently have 3,000 paying fans we will achieve sustainability. We are offering a range of very affordable ticket options:

— Season tickets for our 11 home games start at $11 per game,

— Group rates of 10 or more for a single game start at $15,

— Single games are $20 and $25, and

— 10% to 25% ticket discounts for members of our new Spirit Alliance Fan Club.

For those who have already bought tickets, thank you. For those who have been thinking of buying tickets, please do so before our first home game on April 20th. And another way you can support the Spirit, please forward this e-mail on to friends in the DC, Northern Virginia, and Baltimore Metropolitan areas. Together, we will ensure women’s professional soccer sticks this time. Purchase Your Tickets Here!

Thank you for supporting professional women’s soccer.
