The W-League announced its Team of the Week for Week 4 of the 2013 season this Wednesday, honoring the top players in league matches over the previous week. Following two wins over the week, Spirit Reserves forward Amber Stobbs nabbed a spot on the elite eleven while teammates Katie Yensen, DiDi Haracic, and Ashley Herndon garnered Honorable Mention accolades.

During the Spirit Reserves’ offensive showcase last Saturday in a 7-0 victory over the North Jersey Valkyries, Stobbs clearly made her dangerous presence known. The London native assisted on four separate scores on the afternoon to lead the home side in addition to finishing a brilliant passing display with a rocketed goal of her own.

In addition to Team of the Week honors, Stobbs currently leads the W-League in overall assists by one over second place teammate Jenn Skogerboe.

Midfielder Yensen scored in Washington’s 2-0 win over the Fredericksburg Impact the previous Monday before adding two goals and an assist in the North Jersey rout to gain her honorable mention. Similarly, Spirit Reserves goalkeeper DiDi Haracic has earned three shutouts in a row between the posts for Washington, including a spectacular save on a Fredericksburg penalty kick to receive acknowledgement.

Previous Team of the Week standout Herndon scored her third goal in a row in the win over the Impact to grab national recognition once again.

The Spirit Reserves return home next week to host the New Jersey Wildcats on Saturday June 15th. Match time is set for 4:00 PM at the Maryland SoccerPlex and is the first in a special doubleheader. The Washington Spirit professional side face the Western New York Flash at 7:00PM.
