United Soccer Leagues hosted its Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner Friday night at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa, honoring the teams and individuals who have helped USL maintain its place for nearly 30 years as the largest organization of elite-level soccer leagues in North America. The Washington Spirit Reserves were recognized during the awards portion of the ceremony, highlighted by Remy DuCote being named the 2013 Betsy McAdams Key Grip Award for his exemplary work behind the scenes with the W-League squad.

The Spirit Reserves organization also won the W-League Communications award for their work in sports media and public relations throughout the year.

Named after the late USL Hall of Famer Betsy McAdams, the annual Key Grip award honors the top behind-the-scenes staff member responsible for multiple areas within a USL organization. By definition, the award recognizes an excellent member of a club’s staff that is not a formal executive with the team.

Serving as the Spirit Reserves Player Resource Director, DuCote is instrumental in the coordination and administration of all player issues prior to and throughout the W-League season. DuCote’s role goes much deeper however, as he also supervises game day operations and is the chief liaison with both the USL and the US Soccer Federation.

DuCote held a similar role, Director of Player Development, with both the Northern Virginia Majestics and D.C. United Women over the past 10 years prior to joining the Washington Spirit staff last December.

Charleston Battery Coach Mike Anhaeuser (Coach), Charlotte Lady Eagles President Patrick Stewart (Builder), and former Hampton Roads Piranhas star Mercy Akide-Udoh (Player) were all inducted into the USL Hall of Fame prior to the awards portion of the ceremony.
