Professional Team: Playing in U.S. Soccer’s “National Women’s Soccer League” as one of eight teams. The 2014 season will consist of 22 games and run from mid-April to the end of August. Spring training will begin in early to mid March. Players are full professionals. Other teams in the league: Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Kansas City, Boston, Western New York, and New Jersey. USL W-League Team: Playing in the USL W-League is our “Washington Spirit Reserves” team, and is a major force in the nation’s top Pro-Am League. Playing DC United Women in 2011 and 2012. The team is open to all non-professional players, and will primarily be made up of active college players. The team will occasionally train with the full professional team. USL Super-20s: The second team in our player development pyramid below the professional level. Any player who does not turn 20 prior to January 1, 2014 is eligible. Super-Y League: The Summer of 2014 will see a full set of teams from under-12 through under-17 playing as the Washington Spirit Academy. Each under the curriculum objectives and overseen be Spirit’s professional head coach Mark Parsons. Members of these summer Super-Y teams will have opportunities to interact with and learn from our professional staff and players.
