Six of our Washington Spirit Super Y youth teams qualified to compete in the Super Y League North American Finals this past weekend in Bradenton, Florida. Two of those teams advanced to the knockout stages of the tournament.

The teams that competed were:

Baltimore U12
Baltimore U13
Maryland U13
Virginia U14 Red
Virginia U16
Virginia U18

Our Virginia U16 team went 3-0-0 in the group stage to win the group and advance to the semifinals. In the semis, the team took the early lead, but their opponents came back to equalize and push the match into overtime. With the match still tied at the end of overtime, the teams went to penalty kicks to decide who would advance. Despite a valiant effort, the U16 team did not advance to the Championship.

Our Virginia U18 team went 2-1-0 in group play to advance to the Championship match. The U18 tournament did not have a semifinal round. Despite going into halftime tied with their opponents, the Spirit U18s were not able to swing the momentum their way and came up just short of the Championship.

Congrats to all of our Super Y teams on a great season! We look forward to having you back in 2017!
