Boyds, MD (June 5, 2018) – The Washington Spirit has signed midfielder Maddie Huster as a National Team Replacement Player. Huster replaces Rebecca Quinn as she competes for Canada in upcoming National Team friendlies.

Huster, a rookie from Wake Forest University, was a third round selection in the 2018 NWSL College Draft by Washington. She scored 10 career goals and recorded eight assists while starting 71 of 75 total games at Wake Forest. Huster has trained in the U.S. U-23 and U-20 camps and was a member of the player pools for the U-14, U-15 and U-18 National Teams.

She joins her older sister Tori Huster on the club’s first team roster, having already represented the Spirit organization with the Reserves team for multiple seasons, highlighted by a 2015 W-League Championship title.

National Team Replacement players can be signed when a National Team Player is away on international duty and will not count against the team’s 20-player roster limit. More information on National Team Player Replacements can be found here.

The Washington Spirit returns to the field Friday, June 8 in Piscataway, New Jersey to take on Sky Blue FC at 7 p.m. The team returns home on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. to face off with Seattle Reign FC. [TICKETS]
