Boyds, Md. (April 23, 2014) – The Washington Spirit head to the west coast to face Seattle Reign FC on Wednesday, April 23rd at Memorial Stadium this week to play their first away game of the season.  The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. PDT/10:00 p.m. EST and will be available for live stream at www.youtube.com/NWSL.

The Washington Spirit are fresh off their first win of the 2014 season and will be looking to continue the momentum as they try to best US Women’s National Team goalkeeper, Hope Solo as she minds the net for the Reign.  The Spirit’s first win came in their second game of the season versus FC Kansas City.  Midfielder Diana Matheson proved to be a fierce competitor scoring two of the Spirit’s three goals.  Christine Nairn has also established herself as a dangerous set piece player, bending the ball into the top left corner of the goal, scoring the third and final tally of the game.

Seattle Reign FC has, thus far, only played in one match and won.  They faced the Boston Breakers at home on April 13th, winning the match 3-0. Striker Kim Little scored two goals and US Women’s National Team midfielder, Megan Rapinoe scored the third. The duo’s dangerous creativity will prove to be the perfect challenge for the Spirit to overcome with their own direct and ruthless style.

The Washington Spirit will also be facing the Chicago Red Stars this week, on Saturday, April 26th at Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex at 8:00 p.m. CDT/9:00 p.m. EST. The next home game for the Washington Spirit will be on Saturday, May 3rd at 6:30pm against Seattle Reign FC at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
