The Washington Spirit have partnered with the Army National Guard to present Military and Hometown Heroes Night as a part of the team’s final regular season game against Sky Blue FC on Sunday, August 18, at 5 p.m. at Maureen Hendricks Field at Maryland SoccerPlex.

Courtesy of the Army National Guard, tickets will be distributed to members of the military as the Spirit and Army National Guard show their appreciation to local area military members as well as local fire and police departments.

“As a former member of the military, it is a great honor and privilege to recognize our hometown heroes,” Spirit owner Bill Lynch said. “We appreciate the support from the Army National Guard to make this special night possible, and look forward to growing our relationship.”

A special first kick presentation will take place along with a halftime shootout with children who have participated in Army National Guard soccer clinics hosted in the region this summer.

“The Army National Guard would like to thank the Washington Spirit for recognizing the contributions of the Maryland Army National Guard in the local community and the Army National Guard’s contributions to the nation,” said SFC David Therrell. “We are excited to be a part of the Military Night celebration as we honor the service of men and women throughout the armed forces and cheer together for our Washington Spirit. Congratulations to these athletes for their many accomplishments and good luck!”
