Nairn keeps Melbourne’s hopes alive
Christine Nairn scored a heroic late goal for Melbourne Victory in the 80th minute to put the Victory ahead of Brisbane Roar 2-1. Lisa De Vanna assisted Melbourne’s first goal in the 44th minute. This win gives Melbourne a chance at a finals spot in the W-League when the team plays the Newcastle Jets next week.

Canberra United and Newcastle Jets tie
Tori Huster was part of a great build up that led to Newcastle’s first goal by Angela Salem in the 7th minute. Canberra United tied the game minutes later. Canberra took the lead twice, but the Jets were able to equalize both times, ending the game in a 3-3 tie.  Katherine Reynolds and Lori Lindsey played the entire match for Newcastle Jets and Canberra United, respectively.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
FFC Frankfurt and Kerstin Garefrekes beat ASD Torres Femminile Sassari 4-0 in the 2nd leg of the Round of 16 to have an aggregate score against the Italian team of 9-0 and advance in the league.  The UEFA Champions League will continue in March 2015 with the quarterfinals. Match Overview.

ALLIANZ-FRAUEN-BUNDESLIGA
FFC Frankfurt easily won over 1899 Hoffenheim by scoring 7 goals to Hoffenheim’s 1. Kerstin Garefrekes continued her plentiful goal scoring from last week, scoring two goals in the 17th and 31st minutes. The team plays against VfL Wolfsburg at the end of the month. Match Recap.

ROSTER NEWS
The Spirit acquired goalkeeper Kelsey Wys in a trade with Western New York Flash. Welcome to the Spirit Family, Kelsey! In the trade, the rights to Chantel Jones were given to the Flash. We want to thank Chantel for the great goalkeeping she did for the Spirit and wish her good luck in the future!

The Spirit re-signed forwards Tiffany Weimer and Caroline Miller, who were both out with injuries in the 2014 season. We look forward to their return to the field for the Spirit!

Mex WNT
Veronica Perez and the Mex WNT begin their quest for the Central American and Caribbean Games title November 17th against Colombia.

Eng WNT
Jodie Taylor was named to the 23 player roster for the November 23rd game against Germany at Wembley Stadium. The game is set to be played in front of a crowd of 55,000, which will be a record for the English women. Full Story.
