Boyds, MD (July 26, 2017) – Washington Spirit forward Mallory Pugh and the U.S. Women’s National Team will begin play at the 2017 Tournament of Nations against Australia on Thursday night at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. The game will be shown live on ESPN with kickoff set for 10 p.m. ET.
Thursday will be the first meeting between the U.S. and Australia since the nations faced off to open the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Winnipeg, Canada. The eventual World Cup champion U.S. squad won the game 3-1.
Mallory Pugh U.S. Soccer Notes
- Pugh played against Sweden on June 8, which was her first WNT match as a professional, but was injured in pre-game warm-ups before the match against Norway on June 11.
- Pugh scored in her senior team debut (the 19th U.S. WNT player to score in her first cap) on Jan. 23, 2016, vs. Ireland at 17 years, 8 months and 25 days old, becoming the youngest player to debut for the U.S. in the last 11 years. Pugh is fifth all-time for most U.S. caps before the age of 18 (11). She is third for most goals before the age of 18 (2), fourth in most starts before the age of 18 (7) and first for most assists before the age of 18 (5). She now has 23 caps.
