Boyds, MD (August 4, 2017) – Washington Spirit forward Mallory Pugh scored her fifth career international goal as the U.S. Women’s National Team earned a 3-0 win over Japan on Thursday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Pugh netted the second of the USA’s three goals, receiving a through ball from Taylor Smith on a run up the right wing, before cutting toward the middle of the box and beating the goalkeeper with a left-footed strike in the 60th minute. The 19-year-old played 72 minutes in a starting role before coming off for Lynn Williams.

She played 166 total minutes, with 57 minutes coming in a start against Australia on July 27, and 37 minutes as a substitute on July 30 as the USA stormed back from a 3-1 deficit late in the second half to beat Brazil 4-3.
