Denver, CO – September 15, 2017: The USWNT defeated New Zealand 3-1 during an international friendly at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Boyds, MD (September 16, 2017) – Washington Spirit forward Mallory Pugh earned a spot in Jill Ellis‘ starting lineup and played 60 minutes as the U.S. Women’s National Team defeated New Zealand 3-1 on Friday night in an international friendly at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.

It was Pugh’s 10th international appearance of 2017 and seventh start of the year. Pugh played a key role in setting up the USA’s second goal of the game against New Zealand, sending a cross into the box to Megan Rapinoe, whose shot deflected off the left post to the feet of Julie Ertz, who buried a shot up the middle to complete a first half brace.

Pugh and the USA will conclude the two-game set of friendlies against New Zealand on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the University of Cincinnati. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with a live national TV broadcast on FOX Sports 1. [PREVIEW]
