Boyds, MD (July 24, 2017) – Washington Spirit midfielder Line Sigvardsen Jensen started and played the full 90 minutes as the Denmark Women’s National Team earned a spot in the UEFA Women’s EURO quarterfinals with a 1-0 clean sheet win over Norway on Monday in the team’s Group A finale.

A fifth minute goal by Katrine Veje proved to be all Denmark needed to hold on for the victory as the defense notched its second shutout of the tournament. Sigvardsen Jensen played all 270 minutes of Group A competition in the Danish midfield, serving a key role in the possession battle and in the defensive effort for a side which conceded just one goal over the course of three games.

The Danes finished group play with a 2-1-0 record and earned the second of two quarterfinals berths in their group. Denmark defeated Belgium 1-0 to open the event on July 16, then lost by the same score to host nation Netherlands on July 20, prior to Monday’s bounce-back victory over Norway.
