She netted her first goal on July 16 against the Houston Dash, and scored again on August 12 with a sixth minute go-ahead strike against the Boston Breakers.

Johnson made two NWSL Team of the Month appearances this season, receiving the honor in both April and June for her role in a series of dominant performances by the Spirit back line.

She played all 270 minutes in April as she racked up 188 touches and 8 tackles won over three appearances. In June, she helped the Spirit defense concede just one goal in three games, turning in an exceptional all-around effort with nine tackles, 11 clearances and nine interceptions.
