BOYDS, Md (Dec 6, 2016) – Washington Spirit and U.S. Women’s National team Forward Crystal Dunn (bio) has been named one of five nominees for U.S. Soccer’s Female Player of the Year for 2016 by U.S. Soccer. The other nominees are Tobin Heath (Portland Thorns FC), Carli Lloyd (Houston Dash), Alex Morgan (Orlando Pride), and Becky Sauerbrunn (FC Kansas City).

Votes will be collected from National Team coaches and staff, WNT players who have earned a cap in 2016, members of the U.S. Soccer Board of Directors, U.S. Soccer’s Athlete Council, National Women’s Soccer League coaches, select college head coaches and select media members. The winner will be announced on Sunday, December 11 on ESPN FC.

Dunn was one of just two USWNT players to play in all 25 matches in 2016. She scored 14 goals and recorded eight assists for the National Team. Her most memorable match of 2016 may have been on February 15 against Puerto Rico when she scored five goals in a single match, becoming the seventh USWNT player in history to do so. The Spirit forward also scored in the Olympics against Colombia which tied up the group stage match for the U.S.

For the Spirit, Dunn scored four goals in 2016, including both goals during the NWSL Championship. She also notched a career best five assists while helping to lead the Spirit to its best finish to date.
