BOYDS, MD. (Mar. 30, 2015) — The Washington Spirit announced today that they have renewed their relationship with DC Stoddert Soccer as a Youth Club Partner for the 2015 season. The Spirit Youth Club Partnerships were formed to create a unique relationship between local clubs and the Spirit with the objective of providing valuable experiences and services to area youth soccer clubs, their staff, their parents and their players.
“DC Stoddert is committed to connecting with professional women’s soccer and the Washington Spirit,” said Ashlee Comber, Spirit Vice President of Operations. “We look forward to continuing our positive relationship with DC Stoddert and their families.”
Founded in 1977, DC Stoddert is one of the area’s oldest youth soccer clubs and is the largest soccer club in Washington, DC proper, with over 6,000 players participating in their recreational league and competitive travel programs.
This relationship provides players and families in Stoddert with a close connection with the region’s professional women’s club and its players, special coaching education opportunities for Stoddert coaches and discounted tickets for Stoddert families throughout the 2015 season.
“2015 marks the second consecutive year that the Stoddert Nation stands behind the Washington Spirit,” said Doug Homer, Executive Director. “We are committed to providing educational opportunities for all of our members that promotes community building and a deeper connection to the sport at all levels. By joining forces with the Spirit, our members gain access to professional athletes and coaching educators, all of whom share a connection to youth soccer and the many life lessons that come from playing a team sport. We look forward to supporting the Spirit as they aim for a championship this season.”
The Spirit will kick off their third season on Saturday, April 18 against the defending National Women’s Soccer League champions FC Kansas City. On-field experiences for local youth teams are still available and can be booked by calling 301-337-8579 or emailing email@example.com.
