The Washington Spirit announced the 2014 preseason schedule, which begins on March 10, with four preseason games. The Spirit will kick off the 2014 NWSL preseason by hosting a Meet-the-Team Event & Fan Fest on March 15, which will be highlighted by an intrasquad scrimmage.
The Spirit will also play three exhibition matches; the University of North Carolina (UNC) on March 22 at 7 p.m., University of Virginia (UVA) at 7 p.m. on March 29 and University of Maryland (UofMD) at 7 p.m. on April 5.
The exhibition matches will provide general manager and coach Mark Parsons the opportunity to fine tune and evaluate his roster in preparation for the 2014 NWSL season, which kicks off the weekend of April 12-13. The preseason games will also give the players a chance to test themselves against a few of the top women’s college soccer programs in the country.
Tickets to the UNC and UVA games are free, fans wishing to attend need only print free tickets from tickets.washingtonspirit.com prior to arriving at the stadium on game day. All complimentary tickets are general admission, with a limit of two per email address.
March 15- Meet-the-Team / Fan Fest
The Spirit’s Meet-the-Team Event will take place at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex on March 15. All 2014 season ticket holders will have access to the event at 2:30 p.m. Season ticket holders will be able to pick up their season tickets, scarves (for those who qualified) and mingle with the Spirit players, coaches and staff.
The Fan Fest portion will be open to the public and free. Warm-ups for the team will start at 3:30 p.m., at which time the event will be open to the public. Following the scrimmage, the fans will have an opportunity to receive autographs from the Spirit players. Fans are encouraged to bring their favorite Spirit items for autographs.
March 22 vs. University of North Carolina
The UNC match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex. Fans can claim their free tickets through the Washington Spirit online ticket portal (tickets.washingtonspirit.com). All complimentary tickets are general admission, with a limit of two per email address.
March 29 vs. University of Virginia
The UVA match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex. Fans can claim their free tickets through the Washington Spirit online ticket portal (tickets.washingtonspirit.com). All complimentary tickets are general admission, with a limit of two per email address.
April 5 – Headers for Hope Charity Match vs University of Maryland
The UMD charity match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex. This is a special charity match benefiting Headers for Hope. Fans and supporters can purchase general admission tickets online for $10 each in advance. Tickets will be available to purchase on site the day of game, but will cost $15 each. 100% of the profits from the game will go to benefit Headers for Hope. More detailed information on the Headers for Hope charity match will be released soon. Fans can purchase their tickets through the Washington Spirit online ticket portal (tickets.washingtonspirit.com)
