Diana Weigel is one of several W-League veterans on the Washington Spirit Reserves roster, having played with D.C. United Women in 2012.
In 2011, Weigel wrapped up her outstanding career at William & Mary with a Colonial Athletic Association championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. She scored the final goal of her collegiate career in the Tournament in a loss to North Carolina, finishing her time with the Tribe with eight goals, 18 assists and 34 total points.
Weigel has spent her entire soccer career in Virginia, playing in high school at Fairfax before shipping to Williamsburg for college. She is an agile midfielder and defender with the ability to shine on both the offensive and defensive ends.
As a sophomore at William & Mary, she was named CAA Defender of the Year and throughout her career earned First-Team All-CAA three times. In four seasons at William & Mary she started 81 of the team’s 83 matches.
