Boyds, MD (October 12, 2017) – Washington Spirit fans have voted Mallory Pugh‘s first professional goal as the 2017 Washington Spirit Goal of the Year.

Pugh’s 69th minute strike in a 2-0 win over the Houston Dash on June 3 at the Maryland SoccerPlex made her the youngest goal scorer in NWSL history at age 19. Along with the historical significance, the shot found the back of the net in style, nutmegging Dash goalkeeper Lydia Williams.

Pugh received 46 percent of the votes for Goal of the Year out of the four nominees, which also included goals by Francisca OrdegaArielle Ship and Havana Solaun. Ship finished second with 33 percent of the votes. [+Watch all the nominees]
